Gophers Earn First Win of Klingman Era at Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - First-year Goucher College men's basketball head coach Justin Klingman earned his first career head coaching victory as the Gophers placed three players in double figures and overcame a 13-point first half deficit to post a 71-60 victory over Mount Aloysius College Tuesday evening at the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center.
- Mount Aloysius (0-3) used a 10-0 run to build a 19-6 lead nine minutes into the game.
- A three by Goucher's (1-1) BJ Smith with 10:43 on the clock halted the Mountie run.
- After the Gophers got the lead down to six, 22-16, with just over seven minutes to go in the opening frame, MAC pushed the lead to 26-16 at the 6:42 mark.
- Goucher whittled the lead to three, 26-23, as two Jordan Price free throws with 3:53 left capped a 7-0 Gopher run.
- A basket by Josiah Gregg in the waning seconds of the opening half made it 34-29 at intermission.
- Goucher scored the first five points of the second half and a Can Dalli three with 18:21 on the clock tied the game 34-34.
- An Onterio Miller basket with 12:17 to go gave the Gophers their first lead, 43-42.
- The lead was short-lived as the Mounties reclaimed the lead, 44-43, with 11:42 left.
- A Jacob Morgan layup with just under nine minutes remaining put Goucher back in front, 47-46.
- The lead traded hands two more times and Mount Aloysius tied the game 49-49 before a Liech Kong triple with 6:37 left put the guests in front 52-49.
- MAC tied the game with a triple of its own on its next possession, before back-to-back Alex Miller baskets put the Gophers in front for good, 56-52.
- The hosts got the lead down to four one more time but Goucher closed the game on a 19-8 run to secure its first victory of the season.
- Onterio Miller finished two points shy of his career high with 17 points, scoring 17 points on 7-16 shooting, including 3-7 behind the arc.
- Morgan racked up 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Brandon Joseph posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, going 7-8 at the free throw line.
- Alex Miller finished 4-6 from the floor and added eight points and a pair of blocked shots.
- Goucher, which saw 10 different players score, shot 37.9% overall, including 47.1% in the second half.
