Kong Posts Second Double-Double at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Goucher College first year forward Liech Kong posted his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds, but the Gophers fell 78-55 to Moravian University in Landmark Conference men's basketball Wednesday evening at Johnston Hall.
- A pair of Kong baskets put Goucher (1-5, 0-3 Landmark) up 2-0 and 4-2 early.
- A 12-0 Moravian (3-4, 1-2) run put the Greyhounds in front 14-4 at the 14:32 mark.
- Six straight points capped by a steal and layup by Darrell Green pulled the Gophers within four, 14-10, with 12:05 to go before halftime.
- A Kong three with just over seven minutes to go cut the lead to three, 20-17.
- Moravian responded with nine straight points in just under two minutes to build a 12-point cushion.
- The Greyhounds took their largest first half lead, 35-19, with 3:16 to go and took a 39-26 lead into intermission.
- Goucher got the lead down to 11, 41-30, on a Jacob Morgan layup 2:34 into the second half.
- The Greyhound lead hovered between 13 and 17 for the next several minutes as the two teams traded baskets.
- Moravian went up 64-46 with 5:38 remaining before five straight points by Morgan in the next 33 seconds cut the cushion to 13.
- The hosts closed the game on a 14-4 run to account for the final.
- Kong finished 6-16 from the floor, including a pair of three pointers. He also registered three blocked shots.
- Morgan scored in double figures for the sixth straight game to open the season with 15 points on 6-14 shooting. He has scored in eight straight games dating back to last season.
- Green finished with eight rebounds on the night.
- Goucher shot 29% (20-62) for the contest, including 5-23 behind the arc, and went 10-19 at the free throw line.
- Moravian, which held a 48-46 rebound advantage, shot 46.2% overall, 5-19 from long range and 13-21 at the stripe.
- Goucher heads to Scranton on Saturday for a 2 pm Landmark Conference contest.
- The next Gopher home game is Saturday, December 16, when Goucher hosts Notre Dame (Md.) in a 2 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
