Gophers Slowed in Return at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. - In the first game for both teams since the holiday break, Hood College never trailed as it recorded a 91-58 victory over Goucher College in non-confererence men's basketball Thursday afternoon at the Volpe Athletic Center.
- Hood (8-3) jumped out to an early 11-1 lead.
- Goucher (3-7) registered its first field goal at the 12:48 mark as Darrell Green knocked down a three-pointer.
- The Blazers went on another 11-1 run before a Jaden Workman basket at the 9:09 mark made it 22-7.
- The Gophers got the lead to 12, 30-18, with just under seven minutes remaining in the half on an Onterio Miller three.
- A 9-4 run put Hood up 46-22 with 1:37 left in the opening frame, before a Miller jumper with 34 seconds to go made it 46-24 at intermission.
- A four-point play just over a minute into the first half as Can Dalli was fouled on a made three made it a 46-28 contest.
- Goucher pulled within 16, 52-36, at the 15:34 mark on a basket by Miller.
- After a Workman basket with 12:57 left pulled Goucher within 15, 55-40, an 8-1 spurt put the Blazers in front 63-41 with 10:21 on the clock.
- A 10-2 Blazer run gave the hosts a 75-50 lead with just over six minutes remaining and Hood maintained a comfortable cushion the rest of the way.
- Miller finished 7-12 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points. He led the Gophers in scoring for the third time this season.
- Miller also grabbed six rebounds.
- Dalli knocked down three three-pointers and finished with 11 points.
- Green registered nine points and four rebounds, while Workman and Jacob Morgan finished with six apiece.
- Workman connected on all three of his field goal attempts.
- Morgan notched a team-best seven rebounds and registered four steals and three assists.
- Goucher shot 38.3% overall and was 7-28 from three while going 5-11 at the foul line.
- The Blazers, who outrebounded the Gophers 33-31, shot 48.6% on the day and were 10-36 from long range and 13-16 at the charity stripe.
- Goucher is back home on Saturday, when it hosts Ursinus in a 3 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
