Late First Half Run Sinks Gophers Against Ursinus

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Ursinus College outscored Goucher College 24-5 over the final six-plus minutes of the first half as it went on to post an 80-64 non-conference men's basketball victory Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Ursinus (5-6) led by as many as five in the game's opening minutes.
- Goucher (3-8) chipped away and took its first lead, 19-18, with 11:24 to go in the first half on a layup by Jacob Morgan.
- The lead changed hands three times, with the Bears taking a 22-21 lead on two free throws at the 7:55 mark.
- Down 24-21, a Morgan layup with under seven minutes to go made it 24-23.
- Ursinus scored the next eight points capped by back-to-back threes by Luke Nieman to go up 32-23 with 5:44 on the clock.
- Goucher cut the lead to seven twice, the second time on a Darrell Green triple with 4:41 remaining before halftime that made it 37-28.
- The guests scored the final 11 points of the half to take a 48-28 lead into the break.
- Ursinus scored the first five points of the second half to go up 53-28.
- Goucher countered with a Jaden Workman basket and a Morgan three to get back within 20 at the 18:11 mark.
- The two teams traded baskets for the next several minutes before a 9-1 Bear spurt made it 76-45 with just over nine minutes left.
- Ursinius led by as many as 35 down the stretch.
- Morgan led Goucher with 17 points, going 5-13 from the floor and 6-9 from the free throw line.
- Green and Liech Kong each recorded eight points. Green knocked down a pair of threes, while Kong grabbed five rebounds.
- Onterio Miller and Darnell Morris Jr. each chipped in with seven points.
- Goucher shot 34.4% overall, was 7-26 behind the arc and 13-29 at the free throw line.
- The Bears, who outrebounded the Gophers 47-38, shot 53.6% overall, was 7-14 from three and 23-32 at the charity stripe.
