Buttner, Gallegos Earn All-Conference, Men's Golf Finishes Fifth
PIKESVILLE, Md. - Khai Buttner (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) and Jose Maria Gallegos (Ahome, Mexico/Montverde Academy) each earned Landmark Conference Second Team All-Conference honors as the Goucher College men's golf team finished fifth at the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championship that wrapped up Saturday at Woodholme Country Club. The Gophers posted the second-lowest score on day two with a 320 and finished with a two-day total of 654, 14 shots behind tournament champion Drew University.
Placing second through fourth were University of Scranton (645), Catholic University (647) and Moravian University (649).
Buttner carded an 80 on Saturday to finish with a two-day total of 161 to finish seventh, seven shots behind medalist Lucas Artigliere of Drew. Gallegos improved by seven shots on Saturday, posting a 78 to finish at 163 for the tournament, putting him in a tie for ninth place.
Nick Fisher (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) and Miguel Reider (Mexico City, Mexico/Tecnológico de Monterrey) each finished tied for 17th with a two-day score of 165. Fisher carded an 80 on Saturday while Reider recorded an 82. Tim Winter (Howey In The Hills, Groningen / Harens Lyceum) recorded an 83 on Saturday and a two-day score of 169.
Goucher's 14-shot improvement between rounds was also the second-best in the field, behind Susquehanna which picked up 17 shots from 351 to 334.
