Gophers Fourth, Within Striking Distance at Landmark Championship
BOALSBURG, Pa. - The Goucher College men's golf team sits fourth out of eight teams following the first round of the 2023 Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championship Friday at Mountain View Country Club. The Gophers finished with a team score of 323, just nine shots back of first round leader and defending conference champion Drew University, which turned in a 314.
Catholic University and the University of Scranton are tied for second at 316. Moravian University sits fifth at 327, followed by host Susquehanna (340). Elizabethtown and Juniata are tied for seventh at 349.
Khai Buttner (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) sits tied for fifth after carding a nine-over 79 on Friday in rainy, windy conditions. Buttner was a Landmark Second Team All-Conference finisher last season.
Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy) sits one shot back of Buttner and is tied for 11th. Tim Winter (Howey In The Hills, Groningen / Harens Lyceum), Andy Garcia (A Coruña Galicia, Spain / Colegio Plurilingüe Compañia de María) and Kaman Wilkinson (Granbury, Texas / Godley) all finished at 82 and are tied for 17th.
Saturday's second and final round begins at 9:30 Saturday with Wilkinson the first off the first tee for Goucher at 10:27.
