Khai Buttner Earns All-Conference for Second Time, Gophers Fifth
BOALSBURG, Pa. - Junior Khai Buttner (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) of the Goucher College men's golf team earned Landmark Conference Second Team All-Conference honors for the second time in his career as he finished tied for 10th at the 2023 Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championship held Friday and Saturday at Mountain View Country Club. As a team the Gophers placed fifth with a two-day total of 645.
Buttner, who was also Second Team in 2022, recorded a two-day score of 157. He carded a 79 in Friday's first round and posted a round of 78 on Saturday to finish tied with two other players.
Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy) narrowly missed out on being named All-Conference for the third time in his career as he placed tied for 13th with a two-day score of 158. Yue improved by two shots on Saturday, recording a 78.
Andy Garcia (A Coruña Galicia, Spain / Colegio Plurilingüe Compañia de María) posted his second straight round of 82 to finish at 164 overall and tied for 23rd. Kaman Wilkinson (Granbury, Texas/Godley) finished at 166 over two days, while Tim Winter (Howey In The Hills, Groningen / Harens Lyceum) finished at 168.
Scranton won its first Landmark men's golf title with a score of 613, finishing two shots ahead of defending champion Drew.
