Fourth Quarter Flurry Moves Moravian Past Gophers

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College and Moravian University were tied 5-5 heading into the fourth quarter of Saturday's Landmark Conference men's lacrosse matchup before the Greyhounds reeled off all seven goals of the fourth quarter to take a 12-5 win at Beldon Field.
- Goucher (2-10, 1-2 Landmark) took a 1-0 lead just over five minutes in when Dylan White (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) scored on a feed from Ryan Keegan (Silver Spring, Md./Blake).
- The Gophers extended the lead just under a minute later on a Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton) tally with 8:51 on the clock.
- Zach Bergeron got Moravian (6-3, 2-1) on the board at the 5:14 mark.
- The hosts extended the lead to 3-1 on Heath's second goal of the game six seconds later, with Oscar Hernandez-Genovez (Germantown, Md./Orchard) assisting after winning the faceoff.
- The Greyhounds cut the lead in half when Brennan Fluehr scored at the 11:41 mark.
- Moravian tied the game with 6:02 left before halftime on a man-up tally.
- The hosts took their first lead of the game two minutes in on a goal by Aaron Judge.
- Connor James made it 5-3 for the Greyhounds moments later.
- Heath's third goal of the contest with 6:37 to go, with Jared Halverson (Durham, N.C./Charles E. Jordan) assisting.
- The Gophers tied the game on a nifty goal by Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Carroll) with 2:54 on the clock.
- The two teams entered the fourth quarter deadlocked at 5.
- Heath rang a shot off the crossbar on a transition opportunity a minute into the second half.
- Moravian scored two goals in a 45 second span to take a 7-5 lead with 10:49 left.
- After Steven Salica's second goal of the game at the 8:21 mark, the Greyhounds scored four times in the final 5:11 to secure the win.
- Moravian outshot Goucher 58-24 and won 18-of-21 faceoffs, including all eight in the final frame.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's) made 24 saves, matching his career high.
- Heath's three goals extended his goal scoring streak to eight games.
- Keegan and Hernandez-Genovez each picked up their first career points with their assists.
- Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) had four caused turnovers in the game.
- Prior to the game, the Gophers held Senior Day and honored eight seniors, Halverson, Heath, Smith, Angad Ahluwalia (Philadelphia, Pa./Council Rock North), Justin Arriaga (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick), Will Kelly (Lutherville Timonium, Md./Towson), Alec Poblenz (Atlanta, Ga./Roswell) and senior Director of Lacrosse Operations Grace Kelly.
