Smith, Temple Score Multiple Goals Against Dutchmen

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Lebanon Valley College used a 7-0 second quarter to move past Goucher College in a 15-7 non-conference men's lacrosse victory at Beldon Field on Saturday afternoon.
- LVC (3-2) took a 1-0 lead just 46 seconds into the game.
- Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) tied the game with an unassisted tally 2:12 later for Goucher (1-3).
- The Dutchmen scored with 8:03 and 5:04 on the clock to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
- Lebanon Valley upped its lead to 4-1 1:19 into the second quarter.
- LVC scored seven times in the frame and a Josh Reinhardt goal with 1:44 left before halftime made it 10-1 at the break.
- The guests scored the first two goals of the third to increase their lead to 12-1.
- Smith scored his second goal of the game with 9:38 left in the third off an assist by Milan Temple (Joppatowne, Md./Concordia Prep).
- The two teams traded goals the rest of the half, with Smith scoring at 4:41 and Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie) getting on the board with 2:11 left in the third.
- Sam Stewart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored his first goal of the season 1:16 into the final frame.
- Temple scored the game's last two goals at 8:03 and 4:56, with Kyle Ramos (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) assisting on the first and Smith on the second.
- LVC held a 53-38 shot advantage on the afternoon.
- Both teams won 13 faceoffs, with Oscar Hernandez-Genovez (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard) winning 9-of-21 at the faceoff dot.
- Smith extended his scoring streak to start the season to four games as he totaled three goals and an assist, while Morgan has scored in all three games he has played.
- Stewart also finished with a goal and an assist.
- Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) registered four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
- Jack McDermott (Wilmington, Del./The White Mountain School) added five ground balls while Nick Gambone (Norristown, Pa./LaSalle College) recorded four.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School), who moved into fifth place on Goucher's career saves list on Wednesday, recorded a season-best 16 stops. LVC goalie Kellen Markley recorded 15 saves.
- Goucher returns to action on Wednesday, March 8, traveling to Neumann for a 7 pm opening faceoff.
- The Gophers return home Saturday, March 18, hosting Nichols in a 1 pm game at Beldon Field.
