Gophers Win Big Against Rosemont

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back as it registered a 25-3 non-conference victory over Rosemont College Wednesday evening at Beldon Field. Nine different player scored for the Gophers in the win.
- Goucher (3-6) got on the board 1:19 into the game on a goal by Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie).
- Morgan struck again at the 10:30 mark to make it 2-0.
- The Gophers scored six more times in the quarter, with Milan Temple (Joppatowne, Md./Concordia Prep) scoring three times.
- Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Sam Stewart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) and Eric Conaway, Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) also scored in the quarter.
- Goucher outshot Rosemont (0-7) 16-3 in the opening period.
- Conaway scored the first goal of the second three minutes in.
- The Ravens got on the board 32 seconds later on a Yaseen Elarbi goal.
- Goucher scored five more times in the third, with a Temple goal with two seconds left making it 14-1 at intermission.
- Jack McDermott (Wilmington, Del./The White Mountain School) scored two goals in the period, as did Conaway and Temple.
- Stewart scored his second goal of the game 5:32 into the second half.
- The Gophers added four more goals in the frame, including Sean Nolan's (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) goal at the 7:08 mark.
- Rosemont got its second goal of the game with just over two minutes left.
- The hosts carried a 19-2 lead into the fourth.
- Goucher scored six times in the fourth, including goals by Theo Cook IV (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) and Oscar Hernandez-Genovez (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard).
- For Hernandez-Genovez it marked his first collegiate goal.
- Goucher's 25 goals are a season high and its most in a game since a 25-6 win over Immaculata on April 18, 2019.
- The 22-goal margin of victory was the largest for the Gophers since a 30-2 win over the University of Dallas on February 19, 2012.
- Goucher outshot Rosemont 62-28 and won 26 of the game's 31 faceoffs.
- Hernandez-Genovez won all 26 faceoffs, setting a single-game program record for faceoff wins. The previous record of 24 was set by Jerod Richardson in 2004 against Catholic.
- Hernandez-Genovez also picked up 14 ground balls.
- Temple led Goucher in scoring with seven goals on the evening, while also adding an assist.
- Morgan totaled three goals and seven assists for 10 points. His seven assists were one shy of the program record of eight set by Matt Woodson against Neumann in 2019.
- Conaway finished with four goals, while Smith and Stewart each had three goals apiece. Smith added an assist.
- Nolan had a team-best five caused turnovers and picked up 11 ground balls.
- Conaway, Aaron Butera (Fort Meade, Md./Meade) and Kyle Ramos (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) had two caused turnovers apiece. Ramos also picked up six ground balls.
- Ethan Pratt (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) had five ground ball pickups on the evening.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) played the first three quarters in goal and made three saves.
- Jaden Algarin (Havre de Grace, Md./Concordia Prep) made five saves in the first 8:41 of the fourth before giving way to Jack Kroninger (Mendocino, Calif./Mendocino), who made two saves the rest of the way.
- Goucher remains home on Saturday, hosting Elizabethtown in its Landmark Conference opener at 1 pm at Beldon Field.
