Gophers Bested by McDaniel in Home Opener

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting McDaniel College jumped out to a 6-1 lead after one quarter and held off Goucher College for a 14-7 non-conference men's lacrosse victory at Beldon Field Saturday afternoon.
- McDaniel (2-0) scored the game's first three goals in the first 4:11 of the contest.
- Goucher (1-1) got on the board with 4:25 left in the quarter as Theo Cook IV scored off a feed from Holden Vance.
- The Green Terror scored three times in the final 46 seconds of the quarter to go up 6-1 after one.
- McDaniel scored 1:03 into the second quarter to take a 7-1 lead.
- Jason Fritz scored a pair of goals 2:08 apart to put the guests up 9-1 with 6:46 remaining.
- McDaniel carried its 9-1 lead into intermission as it outshot Goucher 11-5 in the frame.
- James Dugan snapped the Gopher drought with a goal 36 seconds into the second half.
- McDaniel scored twice in a 36-second span to take an 11-2 lead with just over 13 minutes to go.
- Holden Vance scored for Goucher at 8:28.
