Gophers Can't Overcome Third Quarter Hole at Drew

MADISON, N.J. - With the game tied 5-5 at halftime, host Drew University scored all seven goals of the third quarter as it went on to post a 15-12 Landmark Conference men's lacrosse victory over Goucher College Saturday at Ranger Stadium.
- Drew (9-7, 4-4 Landmark) scored three goals in the game's first six minutes to open an early lead.
- Sean Nolan put the Gophers (8-8, 2-6) on the board with 1:50 remaining in the first quarter.
- A Jack McDermott goal just over a minute later made it 3-2.
- Jacob Morgan assisted on both goals.
- The Rangers scored just over a minute into the second quarter.
- Tyler May scored back-to-back goals at 8:50 and 6:29 to tie the game 4-4 for Goucher.
- Drew reclaimed the lead with 4:19 left.
- McDermott's second of the afternoon with 2:05 left made it a 5-5 game at intermission.
- Drew outshot Goucher 18-5 in the third quarter and scored seven straight goals.
- The first Ranger goal 2:49 into the second half and a goal with 22 seconds left made it 12-5.
- McDermott snapped the Goucher drought 56 seconds into the fourth.
- After a Ranger goal at the 13:31 mark, Dylan White and Morgan scored 48 seconds apart to make it 13-8 with 10:52 to go.
- Drew scored twice in a 35-second span to make it 15-8 with 9:17 on the clock.
- Morgan scored a man-up goal with 7:28 remaining with Holden Vance notching an assist.
- Morgan struck again just over a minute later, followed by a Vance tally with 3:29 left.
- May's third goal of the game with 3:12 left closed out the scoring.
- Drew held a 54-31 shot advantage, with Jack Smith making 14 saves for Goucher in the first 51:33. Jaden Algarin made one save the rest of the way.
- Morgan finished with three goals and five assists.
- McDermott and May each finished with three goals.
- Aaron Butera finished with four ground balls for the Gophers.
- Morgan extended his goal-scoring streak to 22 games dating back to last season, including all 14 games he has played this season.
- Goucher closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 27 when it hosts Lycoming for Senior Day at 1 pm at Beldon Field.
