Bio

Kyle Hannan's return as Goucher head men's lacrosse coach was announced on July 14, 2022, and he officially began his duties on August 1 of that year.  Hannan returned to Goucher after a highly-successful first stint as head coach of the Gophers from 2001-12.

In 13 seasons as Goucher's head coach, Hannan guided the Gophers to a 134-82 record, including a 64-22 (.744) record over his final five seasons of his first stint from 2008-12.  In Landmark Conference play over that span, Goucher compiled a 26-3 (.897) record under Hannan and captured Landmark Conference championships in 2010 and 2012.

In Hannan's first season back (2023), he coached Landmark Conference and ECAC Division III Rookie of the Year Jacob Morgan, while the Gophers increased their victory total by three from the previous season.

In 2010 Hannan and his staff were named Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after going 6-0 in league play and 14-4 overall en route to the conference title and the program's first NCAA berth.  In 2012 the Gophers again went 6-0 in Landmark action and posted an 18-2 overall record and the program's second NCAA appearance.  Goucher downed Washington College for its first NCAA win before falling to eventual 2012 national champion Salisbury.

Hannan has coached a total of 12 USILA All-Americans during his time at Goucher, with Matt Lynch earning Third Team accolades in 2012.  The program had five USILA Division III Scholar All-Americans.  A total of 54 players have earned All-Conference honors under Hannan, including 31 Landmark All-Conference selections and 23 All-Conference nods in the Capital Athletic Conference from 2001-07.  Hannan was also the CAC Coach of the Year in 2001 after guiding the Gophers to a 13-3 record in his first season.

Prior to his return, Hannan was the associate head coach at Queens (N.C.) University.  The Royals posted an 12-5 record in 2022 as they prepared to transition to Division I.  Hannan served as a senior advisor to the Lenoir-Rhyne University men's lacrosse program in 2021 as it reached the NCAA Division II championship game.  Since 2020, Hannan has had an extensive role with Team 91 Lacrosse, the largest lacrosse development program in North Carolina.

From 2013-20, Hannan was the head men's lacrosse coach at Division I Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where he earned Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year honors in 2014.  Before arriving at Goucher Hannan served as head coach at Colorado College in 1999 and 2000 and began his head coaching career with five seasons at Virginia Wesleyan from 1994-98.  In 27 years as a collegiate head coach Hannan has a 216-184 record.

A graduate of Salisbury University, Hannan got his start in collegiate coaching as an assistant coach for two seasons with the Sea Gulls.  He was an assistant coach at Bates College before spending four seasons at then-Division III Hobart as an assistant coach.  During his time in Geneva, New York the Statesmen captured national championships in 1990, 1991 and 1993.

Hannan earned his bachelor's at Salisbury then went on to earn his Master's in Counseling.  He and wife Angie have a daughter Margo and a son Kade.
