Back-to-Back All-Conference Selections for DeckerNovember 7, 2006
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD — Gary Decker
(Gambrills, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and Eddie
Emokpae (Baltimore, MD/Chesapeake) are Goucher's two
representatives on the 2006 All-Capital Athletic Conference Men's
Soccer Team, which was revealed today.
In balloting by the conference's nine head coacches, Decker was
voted onto the all-conference first team as a midfielder and
Emokpae was recognized as a second-team forward.
Decker is a repeat selection, having earned All-CAC second-team
honors last year as a junior. In his final season with the Gophers,
he talled six goals and handed out five assists for a team-leading
total of 17 points.
Emokpae, a junior with one season of eligibility remaining,
supplied the Gophers with five goals and five assists as he
finished with 15 points. It's also the second time Emokpae has
landed on the all-conference team: He was a second-team selection
at forward as a freshman in 2004.
Both players appeared in 17 of the Gophers' 18 games, each time as
a starter. In addition, each was credited with two game-winning
goals.
