TOWSON, Md. - After setting up his team's only goal of the first half today, Julien Greco (Shutesbury, MA/St. George's School) scored both of Goucher's goals in the second half. The sophomore forward's five-point performance propelled the Gophers to a 3-1 triumph over Gwynedd-Mercy.
Greco and Galen Guindon (Wallingford, PA/Friends Central) both were awarded assists on a goal by Alexis Mathov (Arlington, VA/Wakefield) at 9:25 that provided the Gophers (7-9-1) with a quick 1-0 lead. The Griffins (4-9-5) wasted little time before responding as they tied the score at 1-1 on a goal by George Lane at 11:04.
Greco put the Gophers ahead 2-1 at 48:29 when he turned a flick from Evan Rosse (Bedford, MA/Bedford) into his sixth goal of the season. His unassisted goal at 88:00 produced the final margin of victory.
The Gophers, who finished with a 27-7 edge in shots, improved to 5-0 against non-conference opponents at Beldon Field this season.
