SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Goucher allowed an opponent to score more than two goals today for only the second time this season and, just like the first time, it proved fatal. The Gophers trailed Susquehanna just 1-0 at the end of the first half, but the Crusaders stuck two more in during the second period to come away with a 3-1 Landmark Conference victory.
The goal scored by Susquehanna's Rhyan Nelson at 17:19 was only the second the Gophers (5-4-1, 0-1 Landmark) have allowed in the first half of any game in 2008 and the first since the season-opening 3-1 triumph over Immaculata.
In the second half, the Crusaders (8-3, 2-0 Landmark) stretched their lead to 3-0 thanks to goals by Austin Gordon at 60:01 and Jim Robertiello at 63:05.
Tim McMullen (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) successfully converted a penalty kick at 81:11 to get Goucher on the scoreboard.
The Crusaders finished with a 15-9 advantage in shots.
