TOWSON, Md. – Goucher spotted Moravian a 1-0 lead today, but responded with two goals just 5:01 apart midway through the second half to earn a 2-1 Landmark Conference victory over the Greyhounds.
Following a scoreless first half in which the two teams battled on fairly even terms, the Greyhounds (4-7-1, 0-2-1 Landmark) got on the scoreboard first on an unassisted goal by Gary Grimes at 51:10.
The Gophers (7-4-1, 1-1 Landmark), who finished with a 17-11 advantage in shots, finally made one count at 64:48 when Andrew Bull (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) set up a goal with a pass to Elijah Lais (Grantville, Md./Northern Garrett).
Dan Brody (Stonington, Conn./Stonington) broke the tie at 69:49 when he tallied his second goal of the season. Galen Guindon (Wallingford, Pa./Friends Central) was awarded an assist on Brody's game-winning goal.
In just the second start of his collegiate career, freshman goalkeeper Joey Granic (Westminster, Md./Westminster) of the Gophers made six saves to earn the victory.
