KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Goucher made it out of the first half today locked in a 1-1 tie with the highest-scoring team in the Landmark Conference. But in the second period, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy capitalized on an 11-1 advantage in shots to record a 2-1 victory over the Gophers.
The Mariners (10-6, 2-3 Landmark), who went in averaging 3.6 goals per contest, got on the scoreboard first today on a goal by Brad Silveira at 12:13. It was only the fourth goal the Gophers have surrendered in the first half of any of their 13 games this season.

Shots in the second half were 11-1 in Merchant Marine's favor and the only one that counted came off the foot of Joray Deliz at 65:48.
Neil Hobbins (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.), who became the third goalkeeper to start a game for Goucher in 2008, finished with three saves.
