Rangers Come Out Firing, Clinch No. 1 Seed
GKs Rosse, Jadin Combine to Make Seven Saves in 5-0 Loss

TOWSON, Md. – For the most part, the statistics suggested a much closer game than what Goucher experienced on Beldon Field today.
Drew did finish with a 17-11 advantage in shots, but the two goalkeepers who saw action for Goucher made four more saves than their counterparts. And the Rangers were awarded eight corner kicks, only one more than the Gophers.
Nothing there would lead one to believe that Drew would prevail 5-0 to clinch being the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference postseason tournament.
Early on, perhaps, the stats might have been a fairly accurate indicator of what was taking place on the field. The Rangers (13-2-2, 5-0-1 Landmark) came out firing and needed only :47 to grab a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jesse Puzio. Greg Zizik's unassisted goal at 7:11 made the score 2-0 in Drew's favor.
A corner kick in the 38th minute produced another goal – this one off the foot of John Jabar – as the opening period came to an end with the Rangers on top, 3-0.
The only two goals in the second half were unassisted and both were scored by Bobby Sprengel, the first one at 67:28 and the second with only 2:05 left to play.
Evan Rosse (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) made four saves before being replaced in goal for the Gophers by David Jadin (Chanhassen, Minn./The Blake School) in the 71st minute. Jadin made three saves and allowed only one goal in 19:02.
Jeff Rogers and David Brigandi combined on the shutout for Drew. Rogers started and made three saves during his stint which lasted 68:57. The Gophers (7-8-1, 1-5 Landmark) got off one shot after Brigandi took over.
