Rouan Sets Up Boyce's Tie-Breaking Goal in 79th Minute

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher spotted Lancaster Bible a 1-0 advantage early in the second half tonight but responded by outshooting the Chargers, 19-3, the rest of the way and rallying for a 3-1 victory at Beldon Field.

Only 6:31 after Kevin Keltner scored to put the Chargers (9-4) ahead, Dan Brody (Stonington, Conn./Stonington) answered for the Gophers, tying the score at 1-1. It was the junior forward's first goal of the season.

The Gophers (6-5-1) took the lead for the first time in the 79th minute when Sam Rouan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) set up a goal by Adam Boyce (Fallston, Md./Fallston). For the the sophomore midfielder, it was his the first goal of his career.

"I was very pleased with how well we possessed the ball," Goucher head coach Gary Dunda said after the game. "Our combo play in the attacking third really wore them down and set up quite a few scoring opportunities in the second half."

Elijah Lais (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett), who picked up an assist on Brody's goal, scored one of his own — his third of the season —at 82:40 to provide Dunda's Gophers with a two-goal cushion. This time, Brody picked up an assist.

"I was very proud of how hard the starting 11 played and, when we went to the bench, the level of play didn't drop," Dunda went on. "It's a true sign of a good team when you have the ability to go to your bench with confidence."

Both starting goalkeepers played the entire 90 minutes. For Lancaster Bible, Jake Kreider made 13 saves on the 27 shots taken by Goucher; Justin Holbrook (Claymont, Del./Wilmington Friends School) turned two shots away in lowering his goals-against average for the season to 1.43.
