Bears Surrender Early Goal, Pull Out 2-1 Win

Gophers Take 1-0 Lead at 4:41 When Gray Sticks Rebound

loss to Ursinus on Beldon Field.
Tom Gray (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) put the Gophers (6-7-1) ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal at 4:41. The sophomore defender was the first to get to the loose ball after Ursinus goalkeeper Mike Alfieri made a save on a shot by Galen Guindon (Wallingford, Pa./Friends Central).
The Bears (3-8-1) pulled even on a goal by Tim Brando midway through the first half.
The 1-1 tie lasted for nearly 55 minutes before Ursinus went ahead 2-1 on a goal by Jean Carlo Cordova at 75:15.
In defeating the Gophers for the first time since 1997, the Bears finished with an 11-6 advantage in shots.
