Guindon Earns Distinction as Senior Scholar Athlete
MADISON, N.J. Goucher's Galen Guindon (Wallingford, Pa./Friends Central) is being recognized as the 2009 Senior Scholar Athlete for the sport of men's soccer in the Landmark Conference.
Landmark Conference's Most Exclusive Award for Academics
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher's Galen Guindon
(Wallingford, Pa./Friends Central) is being recognized as
the 2009 Senior Scholar Athlete for the sport of men's soccer in
the Landmark Conference.
A recipient of the conference's most exclusive academic award must carry a minimum GPA of 3.20 and criteria for selection includes accomplishments in all areas of college life, including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. A committee of conference officers, athletic directors and sports information directors selects one Senior Scholar Athlete per academic year for each of the 20 sports for which it crowns a champion.
The first six recpients for 2009-10 were announced today. In addition to Guindon, the Senior Scholar Athletes for the fall sports are:

Women's Cross Country — Stephanie Huth,
Scranton
Field Hockey — Nicole DiBattista, Drew
Women’s Soccer — Helene Nicoletti,
Catholic
Volleyball — Megan Sollenberger, Juniata
Guindon, who is majoring in music with concentrations in performance and history, has attained a 3.67 cumulative overall GPA through six semesters at Goucher. He was the 2008-09 recipient of the athletic department's Scholar-Ahlete Award which goes to a member of the junior class who has maintained high standards of academic achievement and consistently demonstrated varied and admirable participation in athletics and extracurricular activities.
The four-time letterwinner was a second-team All-Landmark Conference midfielder as a sophomore in 2007 and again this season.
