STEVENSON, Md. — Goucher lost to Stevenson in the sport of men's soccer for the first time in eight years today when the Mustangs erupted for three goals in the first half on the way to a decisive 5-0 triumph over the Gophers.
The Gophers (4-7), who had won the only two games between the two in-state rivals since the Mustangs pulled out a 4-0 victory on Oct. 12, 2002, were outshot in today's contest, 31-8.
The Mustangs (7-3) led 3-0 by halftime thanks to goals by
Matthew Liska at 14:54, Ansger Otto at 22:10 and Josh Stover at
28:21. Tyler King accounted for both goals that Stevenson mustered
in the second period.
