MADISON, N.J. — The Landmark Conference today announced
the names of the 32 student-athletes who make up the 2010 Fall
Landmark All-Academic Team, which recognizes two male and two
female athletes who have excelled athletically and academically
from each of the eight Landmark institutions.
Goucher's four representatives on the fourth annual Fall Landmark
All-Academic Team are Dan Brody
(Stonington, Conn./Stonington), a senior forward on the
men's soccer team, Micki
Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), a junior goalie
on the field hockey team, Kasey
Quinn (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial), a senior
opposite hitter on the volleyball team, and Adam
Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), a senior on the
men's cross country team.
Each school selected its four nominees, all of whom had to compete in any of the six sports for which the Landmark Conference conducts a championship in the fall. In addition, the nominees had to be a sophomore, junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Brody is a four-year letterwinner who supplied the Gophers with one goal and one assist in 2010, raising his career totals to six goals and six assists. An English major with a pre-law minor, he maintains a 3.62 grade point average.
Manheimer, who was also on the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team, was the Gophers' starting goalie in all 17 games this season, played a total of 1,168 minutes, led the Landmark Conference in saves (128) and posted a goals-against average of 2.10. A communications major with a 3.94 GPA, she was a second-team selection at goalie on the 2010 All-Landmark Conference Field Hockey Team.
Quinn was Goucher's lone representative on the 2010 All-Landmark Conference Volleyball Team, earning second-team honors after leading the Gophers in digs (373) and ranking second in kills (216) and service aces (35) this season. She concluded her career with 1,386 digs, the sixth-highest total in the history of the school's volleyball program, and the 91 aces she served in 2007 as a freshman still stands as the program's single-season record. A religion major with a minor in Spanish, she carries a 3.85 GPA.
Scipione, who is majoring in philosophy and business management and possesses a 3.73 GPA, placed 16th at the 2010 Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Championship. Following his junior season with Goucher's men's indoor track and field team, he made the 2010 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team.
