TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's three-game winning streak came to an end tonight when the Gophers couldn't overcome a three-goal deficit and suffered a 3-1 setback to McDaniel on Beldon Field.
The Green Terror (3-6-1) scored twice in the first half and Matthew Gillin accounted for both of the goals. Max Rutherford set up Gillen's first goal at 9:52 and Marrio Davis was awarded an assist on the second one at 33:30.
Nathan Greenwood's unassisted goal at 72:47 put McDaniel up 3-0.
The Gophers (5-6) avoided the shutout when Tommy Gray (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) successfully converted a penalty kick at 84:43 for his first goal of the season.
The Green Terror, who have prevailed in 12 of the past 13 meetings between the two in-state rivals, finished with a 22-17 advantage in shots.
