Senior Forward's 18th Career Goal Lifts Gophers Past Juniata
MADISON, N.J. — Elijah Lais (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett), who supplied the golden goal at 91:54 on Saturday that allowed Goucher to come away with a 1-0 triumph over Juniata, was recognized today by the Landmark Conference as the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 26-Oct. 2.
It was the 18th goal of the senior forward's collegiate career and the third time he tallied the only goal in a 1-0 victory by the Gophers. Earlier this season, his goal at 62:56 accounted for all of the scoring in a win over Penn St. Berks; he also did it against Marywood back on Sept. 4, 2009.
Over the past three seasons, Lais has been in the starting lineup for the Gophers for 45 of the team's 46 games.
