First Loss on Beldon Field This Season for Gophers
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher lost at home for the first time all season when Gettysburg paid a visit to Beldon Field tonight and, thanks to a 21-3 advantage in shots, earned a 3-0 victory.
The Bullets (4-5-1) took a 1-0 lead at 15:20 when Noah Sheetz-Ziegel, using his left foot, drilled a shot from the 18 past the keeper.
Sheetz-Ziegel also had a hand in Gettysburg's second goal at 21:39, feeding the ball through the middle to Brooks Taylor, who took the shot from 12 yards out that went in.
Christian Pyros closed out the scoring at 71:40 with a gorgeous rip from 18 yards away.
Connor Darrell was tested only once while playing all 90 minute in goal for the Bullets. He made a stop on a shot by Hudson Bielecki (Olivebridge, N.Y./Onteora) in the 53rd minute and that one save was enough to keep the Gophers (3-5-1) off the scoreboard.
Tonight's game was Goucher's fourth of the season at home. Previously the Gophers defeated Penn St. Berks, 5-0, and Juniata, 2-0, and battled Hood to a 3-3 (2OT) draw on Beldon Field.
