FREDERICK, Md. - The Goucher College men's soccer (5-3-2, Landmark 0-0-1) team came back to defeat Hood College 2-1 in overtime.
Both teams battled back and forth in shots in the first half. Goucher taking four and Hood taking three. However, neither team could find paydirt to earn the lead in the opening period.
Finally, in the 63rd minute, Hood took the lead when Kyle Bulgarelli headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick.
As time was winding down Goucher took a few opportunities to try and get the ball past sophomore goalkeeper Danny Castillo. Finally senior Scott Mt. Pleasant headed the ball in off a corner kick from junior Konrad Bulanowski (Philadelphia, Pa.). Regulation ended with the score tied 1-1.
Six minutes into overtime, Bulanowski found Mt. Pleasant again to seal the victory for the Gophers. This marks Bulanowski's fourth assist of the season and Mt. Pleasant's second goal of the season. Mt. Pleasant is one goal away from tying his season record in goals.
Junior goalkeeper Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa.) had four saves out of the shots he faced during the contest.
The Gophers travel to Susquehanna Saturday for their second conference game of the season. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
