BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Goucher College men's soccer team (6-4-3, 1-1-2 Landmark) finished a grueling three-game, eight-day Landmark Conference road trip through three different cities by sharing the spoils with Moravian (6-2-3, 1-1-2) in Bethlehem, PA with a 0-0 tie. The result leaves the Gophers in a tie with Moravian for fourth place in the Landmark Conference.
In an even back and forth affair, both teams came up with quality chances and each team's keeper or defense was up to the task to thwart them. Moravian's two best chances came in the 35th minute when a shot hit the post and they had another in the 78th minute as a charging play by junior goalkeeper Dan Hendry (Lewisburg, PA) forced a shot to carom off the crossbar. Hendry finished with 10 saves in the match.
Not to be undone, the Moravian defense and goalkeeper were equally up to the task of stifling the Goucher attack. A huge goal-line clearance by a Greyhound defender in the 51st minute on a shot by junior forward Konrad Bulanowski (Philadelphia, PA) prevented the Gophers from taking the lead. Goucher also had two high-end scoring chances, one towards the end of the game and one in overtime. Sophomore Brandon Cohen (Redondo Beach, CA) missed just wide of the goal with under 5 minutes left in regulation, and the Moravian goalkeeper made his best and biggest of his 6 save effort in the game off senior Drew Phillips' (Hoosick Falls, NY) set piece opportunity with 4 minutes remaining in the second ten minute overtime.
The Gophers return to action on Wednesday as they complete their five consecutive game road trip with a 7:30 pm game against Centennial Conference opponent Ursinus College.
