Odubade Scores Twice, Gophers Blank Moravian 3-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Jeremiah Odubade (Capital Heights, Md. / Fairmont Heights) totaled two goals and an assist and Jeff Castro (Egg Harbor Township, N.J. / Egg Harbor Township) made three saves in goal as Goucher College shut out Moravian University 3-0 in Landmark Conference men's soccer Saturday afternoon at Makuvek Field.
- Goucher (4-5-2, 1-1 Landmark) took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute as Bobby Beringer (Okinawa, Japan / Richard Montgomery) fired a shot from the top of the 18 that slid inside the left post. Odubade assisted on the tally.
- Odubade put a shot on goal in the 18th minute that was stopped by Moravian (5-5-1, 0-2) keeper Mason LeSage.
- A minute earlier, Castro made his first save of the game, stopping a bid by Andrew Esparo.
- Odubade made it 2-0 at the 20:55 mark as he knocked home a feed from Will Frasier (Hereford, Md. / Hereford).
- Drew List (Towson, Md. / Calvert Hall ) put a header on frame with just over 15 minutes to go in the half.
- Castro made a stop on a Reed Sturza shot, and moments later Ali Kazim Nakhid (Beirut, Lebanon/UMBC) put a shot on goal that was saved by LeSage.
- Jonathan Alvarado (Hyattsville, Md. / International HS at Langley Park) put a shot on target that LeSage stopped with just under two minutes left before intermission.
- List tested Greyhound reserve goalie Michael Bone with a header just under seven minutes in that Bone was able to stop.
- Castro made a save on a Sturza shot with just over 35 minutes left.
- Nakhid and Aidan Spoor (Milton, Del. / Cape Henlopen) each put shots on goal that Bone was able to stop.
- Odubade made it 3-0 with just under 15 minutes left with a low shot inside the left post.
- Goucher had one final shot on goal, as Odubade forced Bone to make another save in the 78th minute.
- The Gophers defeated the Greyhounds for the first time since the 2014 season.
- Goucher outshot Moravian 16-11, with 11 of the 16 Gopher shots on goal.
- Castro made three saves en route to his third shutout of the season, while LeSage and Bone each made four saves while playing a half.
- The Gophers generated a 7-4 corner kick advantage.
- Beringer's goal was the first of his Goucher career.
- Odubade led Goucher with six shots, including four on frame.
- Odubade leads the Landmark Conference in goals (7) and points (16).
- Goucher returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins for a 7 pm contest.
- The Gophers return home and to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, entertaining Scranton in a 4 pm contest at Beldon Field.
