Gophers Fall Late to Drew

MADISON, N.J. - Sophomore Jeremiah Odubade (Capital Heights, Md. / Fairmont Heights) scored his 10th goal of the season to give the Goucher College men's soccer team an early 1-0 lead, but the Gophers fell 2-1 to host Drew University Saturday afternoon.
- Jeff Castro (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) made his first save of the game for Goucher (5-8-2, 1-3 Landmark) just under four minutes in.
- Ali Kazim Nakhid (Beirut, Lebanon/UMBC) put a shot on frame in the 13th minute that was turned aside by Drew (5-7-1, 2-1-1) goalie David Hoyt.
- Odubade took a pass from Jonathan Alvarado (Hyattsville, Md. / International HS at Langley Park) and one-timed a shot from the top of the 18 past Hoyt, who had come out, at the 15:57 mark to put the Gophers up 1-0.
- Castro made a save on a Kevin Kiernan bid at 23:59.
- Just past the 30-minute mark Brandon Jimenez put a header past Castro to tie the score 1-1.
- The game was stopped for a weather delay late in the first half.
- Castro made a stop on a shot on goal just over two minutes in.
- Odubade put a header on goal in the 53rd minute that was saved by Drew relief keeper Calum Erlenborn.
- Drew had three shots just shy of the 60-minute mark, two of which were saved by Castro.
- Another header by Odubade was saved by Erlenborn in the 62nd minute.
- Kiernan made it 2-1 just past the 70-minute mark with a header off a corner kick.
- Drew outshot Goucher 17-6 and had six of the game's eight corner kicks.
- Castro made eight saves for the Gophers.
- Erlenborn made three saves after coming in following an injury to Hoyt on the Odubade goal and made three saves. Hoyt had made one save prior to his departure.
- Odubade led the Gophers with three shots.
- Odubade continues to lead the Landmark Conference in goals (10) and points (22).

- Goucher travels to Catholic on Wednesday for a 7 pm Landmark Conference matchup.
- The Gophers return home next Saturday, October 23, when they host Juniata at 4 pm at Beldon Field.
