TOWSON, Md. - Reigning Landmark Conference men's soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week Michael Adekanmbi scored twice as the Goucher College men's soccer team improved to 3-0 with a 3-1 win over Hood College Tuesday evening at Beldon Field. The Gophers are off to their best start since 2005.
- Jeremiah Odubade out a header on goal just under five minutes in for Goucher (3-0) that was saved by Nick Humphries.
- The Blazers (0-3) had their first shot on frame in the ninth minute that was stopped by Gopher keeper Ale Sternini.
- Just shy of the midway point of the first half, Adekanmbi scored his first goal of the night on a give-and-go with Paul Van Engeland.
- With just under four minutes left, a shot from inside the top of the 18 by Goucher's Eli Berkowitz forced Humphries to make a sliding save.
- Both teams had eight shots in the first half.
- Hood's Jackson Quenzer had a shot on goal in the first minute of the second stanza that forced Sternini to make a save.
- The Blazers tied the game 1-1 on a goal off a corner kick by Jacob Hill in the 54th minute.
- Less than a minute later, Goucher reclaimed the lead on Adekanmbi's second goal of the evening.
- Will Frasier played a ball into the penalty area that glanced off a Blazer defender and to the feet of Adekanmbi, who one-timed it for his second goal of the night.
- The Gophers increased their lead to 3-1 with 25 minutes to play when Noah Hanson scored his first collegiate goal.
- Rafael Berhanu created a turnover at midfield, dribbled and found Hanson, who fired from just inside the top of the box.
- Sternini made a save on a scramble in the box with 15 minutes left, while the Gophers put two more shots on frame the rest of the way.
