TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College got goals from three different players as it registered a 3-1 Landmark Conference men's soccer victory over Juniata College at Beldon Field Saturday afternoon.
- Goucher (6-2-1, 1-1 Landmark) took a 1-0 lead just over six minutes into the game as Andres Aristimuno scored for the Gophers. He knocked home a loose ball sent over by Michael Adekanmbi that got Eagle goalie Axel Grater off his line.
- Jeremiah Odubade had a shot blocked by a Juniata (4-4-1, 0-2) defender.
- The Eagles evened the game 1-1 at the 13:56 mark on a goal by Nathan Weick. Jase Colino assisted on the tally.
- Goucher goalie Ale Sternini made a sliding stop on a bid by Ian Edwards in the 18th minute.
- With just under 13 minutes to go, Bobby Beringer made it 2-1. He took a pass from Adekanmbi, went 1v1 with a defender, and scored from 12 yards out.
- Goucher's Elan Waples put a shot on goal that Grater turned away three minutes into the second half.
- Aristimuno rang a shot off the Eagle crossbar with 30 minutes left.
- With just over 20 minutes left, Adekanmbi made it 3-1 on a long shot from the top of the box.
- Adekanmbi beat a Juniata defender to a long pass from Rafael Berhanu, took a touch, and fired a grounder into an open net as Grater had come out of his goal to play Adekanmbi.
- Sternini made a pair of saves in the final 20 minutes to keep it a two-goal game, including one with seven minutes left on a Brandon Marzula bid.
- Goucher held a 13-4 shot advantage on the day and took four corner kicks to the Eagles' two.
- Sternini made three saves, while Grater made two saves before being relieved by Maxwell Mattoni with 14:29 left. Mattoni made one save.
- Odubade led the Gophers with three shots.
- The Gophers improve to 9-4-3 all-time against Juniata and have won the last three meetings.
- Goucher remains at home Tuesday, hosting Moravian University in a 7 pm Landmark Conference match at Beldon Field.
