TOWSON, Md. The prospects of Goucher knocking off Moravian this afternoon plummeted when the Greyhounds swept the three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. The Gophers fared no better in singles play and wound up suffering a 9-0 loss to the team that took over sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference with the win.

Baum, Brooks Suffer 8-4 Loss to Box, Morrow at No. 1 Doubles

TOWSON, Md. – The prospects of Goucher knocking off Moravian
this afternoon plummeted when the Greyhounds swept the three
doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. The Gophers fared no better in
singles play and wound up suffering a 9-0 loss to the team that
took over sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference
with the win.
The most competitive of the three doubles matches was No. 1 where Steve Baum (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Michael Brooks (Old Westbury, N.Y./Solomon Schechter) were beaten 8-4 by Ian Box and Doug Morrow.
The Greyhounds (10-4, 4-0 Landmark) won all six singles matches in straight sets starting with Morrow's 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Baum at No. 2. At No. 1, Box defeated Francisco Barrera (Wheaton, Md./Wheaton) 6-1, 6-0.
The Gophers (1-8, 0-3 Landmark) are now 10-51 in singles play in 2008-09.
