TOWSON, Md. — Goucher came away with one win in singles play and another during the doubles competition in a 7-2 loss at home to Juniata this afternoon.
The Eagles (8-11, 3-3 Landmark) came out of doubles play ahead 2-1. Brett Blackman (Philadelphia, Pa./J.R. Masterman) and Daniel Csete (Miami, Fla./Brewster Academy) supplied the Gophers (2-17, 0-6 Landmark) with their point by registering an 8-4 victory over Matthew Butler and Andrew Hoffman at No. 3.
David Spivey (Cockeysville, Md./The Park School) accounted for the point Goucher earned during the singles competition, picking up his fourth win of the season at No. 1. He dropped the first set (2-6), but had a 3-0 lead in the second set when his opponent, Justin Wisniewski, retired.
At No. 2, Elliott Perow came out on top of Nick Pelensky (Billings, Mont./Billings) 6-1, 6-1.
Hoffman and Blackman met up again at No. 6 singles, which went to a matchbreaker after they split the first two sets. Hoffman prevailed 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (3).
