Gophers Bow to Eagles, Remain Stuck on One Win

Spivey Extends Singles Match Against Perow to Third Set
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Although David Spivey (Cockeysville, Md./The Park School) was able to win one set at No. 2 singles, Goucher dropped all six singles matches today on the way to a 9-0 Landmark Conference loss to Juniata.
Spivey came up short in the opening set, but came back to take the second set before Juniata's Elliott Perow prevailed in the third set to earn a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 victory.
At No. 1 singles, Goucher's Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) suffered a 6-3, 6-3 setback to Justin Wisniewski.
The Gophers (1-7, 0-2 Landmark) managed to win only two games in the remaining four singles matches.
The Eagles (5-3, 1-1 Landmark) pulled off a sweep of the doubles matches. The most competitive match of the three was at No. 2 where Wisniewski and Brice Morey got past Hoesman and Pat Murnin (Salt Lake City, Utah/East), 8-6.
