Gophers Improve to 5-1 By Taking Down Seahawks

Hoesman earned the point that clinched the overall victory for the Gophers (5-1) by beating Robert Bishop 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Fujitani's match at No. 4 against Byron Dickerson was the next to finish and the sophomore made it 6-0 in favor of head coach Brendan Kincaid's squad with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Jack Hodges (London, England/Shrewsbury School) manned the No. 1 spot in Goucher's singles lineup against the Seahawks (2-4) and he responded with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Mark Hardesty. At No. 3, Elliot Diehl (York, Pa./York Suburban) knocked off Wyatt Paulishak 6-3, 7-6 (3); at No. 5, Josh Goldberg (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Connor McKissick.
The Gophers pulled off a sweep of the three doubles matches, boosting their record in doubles competition this season to 15-3. Joey Caracappa (Smithtown, N.Y./Saddlebrook Preparatory School) and Hoesman were victorious at No. 1 doubles as they defeated Hardesty and McKissick, 8-1.
Goucher takes off Tuesday for its Spring Break training trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. Along the way, the Gophers will make a stop to play a match against Bridgewater (Va.) on Tuesday.
