Hoesman Adds 3 Wins to Career Total, Now Over 50
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher played three matches on the home courts today, including its first Landmark Conference match of the season. The Gophers got off to a 1-0 start in conference play by pinning a 9-0 setback on Susquehanna, and also collected victories over Stevenson, 6-3, and Rutgers-Camden, 9-0.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher played three matches on the home courts today, including its first Landmark Conference match of the season. The Gophers got off to a 1-0 start in conference play by pinning a 9-0 setback on Susquehanna, and also collected victories over Stevenson, 6-3, and Rutgers-Camden, 9-0.
- Nine different individuals on Goucher's 2015-16 roster won at least one singles match today.
- Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Midori Fujitani (Tokyo, Japan/International School Bangkok) were the only two Gophers to be in the singles line-up for all three matches. Hoesman went 3-0 in singles play and picked up the 50th singles win of his career when he defeated Peter Hoblitzell from Susquehanna 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. In the final match of the day, the senior was at No. 1 where he turned back Anthony Gendin from Rutgers-Camden 6-1, 6-2, extending his winning streak in singles competition to nine matches.
- Fujitani also picked up three wins in singles play. His 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Conrad Ellis at No. 3 was one of five victories for the Gophers in singles play as they rallied from being down 2-1 after the three doubles matches to prevail against the Mustangs (2-4).
- Jack Hodges (London, England/Shrewsbury School) won both matches where he was at No. 1 in the singles lineup. In the victory over the Crusaders (5-5, 0-1 Landmark), he decked Ben Ornstein 6-0, 6-0; he turned back Stevenson's Bryan Gieselman 6-0, 6-4.
- Bardia Anvari (Clarksville, Md./Mount St. Joseph) improved to 3-0 in singles play in 2015-16 with a pair of wins: 6-0, 6-0 over Susquehanna's Ashton Collins at No. 6 and 6-2, 6-2 over Onkar Singh from Rutgers-Camden at No. 5. Jake Brazeau (Greenville, S.C./Osan American) played his first singles match of the season in the win over the Scarlet Raptors (2-3) and was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 6 over Jason Lin.
- Including the seven wins they picked up today, the Gophers (9-4, 1-0 Landmark) are now 26-13 (.667) in doubles competition in 2015-16.
Goucher's next seven matches will all be against Landmark Conference opponents, starting with Catholic on Wednesday in the nation's capital, starting at 3 p.m.
