SALISBURY, Md. - Host Salisbury University jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and registered a 9-0 non-conference men's tennis victory over Goucher College Friday night.
- The Sea Gulls (2-0) dropped just two sets as they swept doubles play.
- Goucher's (0-1) Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) won the first set of his match at No. 1 6-2 before falling 2-6, 6-1, 6-1.
- Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
- First year Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) won his first set at No. 6 6-2 before falling in a third-set tiebreaker 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
- Friday's match was the first for first-year Goucher head coach Clay Allen.
- Goucher is back in action Saturday at Salisbury, taking on Virginia Wesleyan in an 11 am match.
- The Gophers' home opener is set for Saturday, March 5, when they host St. Mary's (Md.) in a 1 pm match at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
