TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's tennis team picked up its second straight victory Monday afternoon, edging visiting Endicott College 5-4 at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
- Goucher (2-2) staked itself to a 2-1 lead after doubles.
- Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) and Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) recorded an 8-3 win at No. 1.
- Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) and Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) posted an 8-6 win at second doubles.
- At No. 3, Angel Cerpa (El Pason, Texas/Americas) and Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) were edged in a tiebreaker.
- Noel earned Goucher's first singles point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4.
- After the Gulls (2-5) won at No. 2, Nguyen posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
- Ryan Wartenberg (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) clinched the match with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win at No. 6.
- Kane at No. 1 and Cerpa at No. 3 each fell in three sets.
- Nguyen improved to 5-2 in singles play this season.
- Adebamgbe and Kane upped their doubles record to 5-3 on the season.
- Goucher opens its spring break trip to Orlando next Monday, facing Trinity (Conn.) in a 2 pm match at the USTA National Campus.
- The Gophers are back home Sunday, April 3 when they host Juniata in a 10:30 am match at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
