ORLANDO, Fla. - Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) and Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) each picked up singles victories as the Goucher College men's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break with a 7-2 setback to Cal Lutheran at the USTA National Campus Friday.
- Cal Lutheran (5-5) swept doubles to grab a 3-0 lead.
- Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends School) and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) battled before dropping an 8-6 decision at No. 1 for Goucher (3-5)
- Nguyen picked up a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 5.
- Beam recorded a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
- Adebamgbe dropped two close sets at No. 2, falling 7-6 (3), 7-5.
- Friday's match was a late addition to the schedule after Thursday's contest against Luther was cancelled.
- Beam finished 3-0 in singles play in Florida, while Nguyen won his second straight match.
- Goucher opens Landmark Conference play on Saturday when it travels to Susquehanna for a 1 pm match.
- The Gophers return home on Sunday, April 3 when they host Juniata in a 10:30 Landmark Conference contest at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
