Gophers Wrap Up No. 2 Seed in Landmark Championship at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Goucher College men's tennis team locked up the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Championship by blanking host Susquehanna University 9-0 Saturday afternoon.
- Goucher (10-7, 6-1 Landmark) got off to a quick start by sweeping doubles from Susquehanna (10-4, 5-2).
- Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) and Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) posted an 8-0 sweep at No. 2.
- Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) and Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends School) recorded an 8-3 win at No. 1.
- At No. 3, Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) and Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) were 8-2 victors at No. 3.
- Cerpa picked up the first singles point for the Gophers with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at No. 3.
- Adebamgbe clinched the match, winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2.
- Kane prevailed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, with Noel winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
- Nguyen was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. 5, while Beam won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
- Nguyen has won 11 straight singles matches and improved to 16-4 on the season.
- Beam won his fifth straight singles tilt.
- Beam and Nguyen also extended their doubles win streak to five matches.
- Beam won his 12th singles match of the season, while Noel and Adebamgbe each picked up win No. 11.
- The Gophers have won seven of their last nine matches.
- Goucher and Susquehanna will meet again in the Landmark semifinals on Wednesday, with Goucher hosting as the higher seed.
- First serve is set for 4 pm at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
