Gophers Garner Three First Team, Six All-Landmark Selections
TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference champion Goucher College men's tennis team garnered a total of six All-Conference selections as the conference office announced its men's tennis All-Conference teams on Tuesday morning.
Seniors Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) were each two-time First Team selections as they were honored in both singles and doubles. Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) and Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) were Second Team in singles, while Nguyen and Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) were named to the Second Team in doubles.
Adebamgbe was named All-Conference in doubles for the third time in his career as he and Kane have posted a 12-5 dual match mark and a 15-7 overall record. They went 6-1 in Landmark Conference play. Adebamgbe and Kane each earned singles All-Conference accolades for the second time in their careers. Adebamgbe was 5-1 in Landmark play this season and 12-10 overall, while Kane was 5-2 in conference action and recorded seven wins in dual match singles play.
Cerpa earns All-Conference singles honors for the second time in his career. He posted a 4-1 record in Landmark Conference action and has gone 11-9 in singles play overall.
Nguyen, playing primarily at No 5 singles, has won 12 straight singles matches and went 7-0 in Landmark Conference action. This season hs is 15-4 in dual match singles and 17-4 overall.
Nguyen and Beam went 5-0 in Landmark Conference play at No. 3 doubles and have gone 9-5 overall in doubles competition.
Goucher is back in action on Friday when it faces Lebanon Valley in the first round of the NCAA tournament in a match set to be played at Johns Hopkins.
