Gophers Earn Five Men's Tennis Landmark All-Conference Nods
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's tennis team had four players recognized with a total of five Landmark Conference All-Conference selections as the conference announced its All-Conference teams Wednesday afternoon.
Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) earned First Team All-Conference singles honors, while Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) and Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) were selected First Team doubles.
Beam and Nguyen each earned Second Team accolades in singles, while Cerpa and Tadeo Asprella (La Plata, Argentina / Instituto Jose Manuel Estrada) were named to the Second Team in doubles.
Cerpa earns All-Conference honors in singles for the third time in his career, as he was a Second Team choice in 2021 and 2022. Playing primarily No. 1 for the Gophers, he finished with three singles wins in conference play and seven victories overall.
Beam and Nguyen were honored as a doubles tandem for the second straight season, as they were Landmark Second Team in 2022. Goucher's top pairing, the duo were 6-1 in conference play and 8-11 overall this season.
Nguyen repeats as a Second Team selection in singles. Playing primarily at No. 2, Nguyen finished 6-1 in conference play in singles and 9-9 in dual match action overall. Beam, playing at No. 3, was also 6-1 against Landmark competition during the regular season and registered 10 singles wins overall.
Cerpa and Asprella were undefeated in conference play at No. 2 doubles, going 7-0, while the pairing finished with 10 wins overall.
Goucher made its seventh Landmark Conference finals appearance in eight seasons in 2023. The Gophers have captured five Landmark titles during that span, with the most recent coming in 2022.
