Jackson Beam Named CSC Academic All-District
TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Jackson Beam (Knghtdale, N.C./Knightdale) of the Goucher College men's tennis team was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Team for men's tennis on Tuesday.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All America® honorees will be announced in early June.
In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with at least one full academic year at their current institution. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve appearing in at least 50% of a team's contests.
Beam, a Business Administration major, was a two-time All-Conference selection this season, earning Landmark First Team accolades in doubles while being named to the Second Team in singles. In doubles, Beam teamed with Calis Nguyen to go in 6-1 in conference play and 8-11 overall this season. Playing at No. 3, Beam was also 6-1 against Landmark competition during the regular season and registered 10 singles wins overall.
The Gophers, who reached the Landmark Conference final, return to action Saturday when they travel to Stevenson for the ECAC Men's Tennis Championship. Goucher will take on the host Mustangs at 10 am.
