CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The Goucher College men's tennis team completed a sweep of its weekend Landmark Conference matches with a 7-2 win over the University of Scranton at the Birchwood Racquet Club on Sunday.
- The Gophers (6-7, 2-0 Landmark) staked themselves to a 2-1 lead after doubles.
- Angel Cerpa and Benedikt Rummel registered an 8-2 win at No. 2.
- Unai Laguardia Alvarez and Tadeo Asprella prevailed 8-2 in their match at third doubles.
- Scranton (2-8, 1-2) won at No. 1, downing Calis Nguyen and Gabe Naftoly 8-7 (7-2).
- Asprella and Cerpa earned three set wins at No. 3 and No. 4.
- Asprella ralled for his win at third singles 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
- At No. 4, Cerpa held off his opponent for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory.
- Naftoly was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 2.
- Nguyen dispatched his opponent at No. 5 6-2, 6-1.
- Rummel registered a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in No. 6 singles.
- Rummel ran his singles win streak to four matches.
- Goucher won its third straight against the Royals and has captured eight of the last 10 matchups.
- Goucher is slated to return to action Wednesday when it hosts Catholic in a 3:30 pm Landmark match at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
