TOWSON, Md. — Damon Brooks was a key contributor to Goucher’s men’s basketball program during his freshman season in 2011-12, starting eight games and finishing third on the team with a 7.7 points per game average.
That April, though, Brooks suffered a spinal cord injury in an off-court incident which ended his basketball career. The athletic department has held fundraisers to raise money towards his rehabilitation in each season since the injury, and this year’s event will take place during Saturday’s home doubleheader against Merchant Marine.
The women’s game begins at 5 p.m., with the men’s contest following shortly after its conclusion. Fans attending the doubleheader are asked to pay a $5.00 admission fee to help support Brooks. The money will help provide funds for his health care, rehabilitation and other critical needs.
There will also be bracelets for sale, and donations can be made at any time here at Damon’s patient page through the HelpHOPELive foundation. Click here to learn more about HelpHOPELive.
