Women’s and Men’s Swimming Katie Shannon and Marcus Montisano Named Scholar-Athletes Of The Week
Each week in the fall semester, Goucher Athletics names two Scholar-Athletes of the Week for their hard work in the classroom. This week's features are women's swimming senior, Katie Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Louisville), and men's swimming junior, Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt).
Shannon, a biology major, achieved the Landmark Academic Honor Roll every year since 2017-18. Her top two times come from Goucher's meet against Frostburg State. The Thousand Oaks native had her best swim in the 400 Free Relay versus Frostburg State on October 20, 2018. The relay team bagged second place and in that same meet, Shannon swam 2:27.89 in the 200 Free, earning her first place. The senior holds a place in Goucher's record books with placing top 10 in the 500, 1000, and 1650 free.
Montisano is part of the 4+2 engineering program that Goucher coordinates with John Hopkins University. Also, he attained a spot on the Landmark Conference Honor Roll in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The Harrisburg native swam his best in the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships and Goucher's meet against Marywood. Montisano swam 24.37 to gain 28th place in the 50 free at the Championships on February 15, 2019. The junior placed second in the 100 free at the meet versus Marywood on January 15, 2019.
