Gophers Wrap Up at Landmark Swimming Championships
BOYDS, Md. - The 2022 Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up on Sunday at the Germantown Aquatics Center. The Goucher College men's swimming team placed sixth overall with 113 points, while the Gopher women finished seventh with 134.5 points.
First year Ella Robinson (Canajoharie, N.Y./Canajoharie) reached her second A final of the meet, qualifiying for the women's 200 breaststroke. She finished in a dead heat for seventh with Maddie Doucette of Catholic with a personal-best time of 2:31.53. Robinson also placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke final on Saturday.
Junior Alejandra Barry-Ruiz (New Haven, Conn./Amity) qualified for the B final in the 200 butterfly and posted a time of 2:32.72, bettering her personal best by over four seconds.
Barry-Ruiz, Jamie Damm (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Olivia Reichardt (Monument, Colo./Palmer) and Avery McEachern (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) posted a time of 9:10.27 in the 800 freestyle relay.
For the Gopher men, Jackson Penner (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) qualified for the B final in the 100 freestyle and registered a time of 50.48 seconds in the final after swimming a 50.09 in the prelims.
The Goucher swimming teams are scheduled to compete at the ECAC Open Championship on Friday at Navy.
