Gophers Close Out Fall Against Marymount (Va.)
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College swim teams closed out the first semester of competition by hosting Marymount (Va.) University at the von Borries Aquatic Center on Saturday. The Saints swept the afternoon, winning 176-55 on the women's side and 188-36 in the men's meet.
For the men, Ben Graff (Baltimore, Md./Friends School) finished third in both the 50 backstroke (28.51) and 50 butterfly (25.31). Richie Bialik (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) placed third in the 50 free with a time of 26.37, while Liam McDonald (Cary, N.C./St. Francis) was third in the 500 free (6:52.39).
On the women's side, Darcy McFarland (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) placed second in three events for the Gophers. She was second in the 50 backstroke (30.32), the 50 freestyle (27.12) and the 200 backstroke (2:29.72).
Ella Robinson (Canajoharie, N.Y./Canajoharie) placed second in the 50 breaststroke (33.30) and was third in the 200 individual medley (2:25.29).
Alejandra Barry-Ruiz (New Haven, Conn./Amity) finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:45.95), while Olivia Reichardt (Monument, Colo./Palmer) was second in the 50 butterfly (29.63).
Kelci Wood (Spencer, Ind./Owen Valley) was third in the 100 free (1:00.33), while Avery McEachern (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) recorded a 6:18.21 in the 500 freestyle to come in third.
Goucher is idle until Saturday, January 14 when it faces Susquehanna and the host Greyhounds in a tri-meet at Moravian. Meet time is set for 1 pm.
